Located in the swankiest neighbourhood of Mumbai, a few meters from some of the most expensive real estate in the world, the 31-room boutique hotel captures the essence of the city – its history, its funky neighbourhoods and even its idiosyncrasies.
Honest! Every room in Hotel Kemps Corner (a stone’s throw from the first flyover of the city) is themed on different aspects of Mumbai… its famous dabbawallas (lunchbox carriers); Chor bazar (Thieves’ Market); Bollywood; the museum; the Queen’s Necklace; Arthur Road Prison… One room even pays tribute to a notorious underworld don of yesteryear who would frequently stop by to visit one of the hotel’s long-time resident guests.
In the recent makeover of Hotel Kemps Corner which was fitted with modern en-suite facilities, the young architect who orchestrated the facelift also ensured that it evoked nostalgia for Mumbai of the 1970s when the hotel welcomed its first guests.
